Efficiency saves energy, money and the environment by lowering emissions that contribute to climate change. Plus efficiency upgrades increase your home’s value. Programs are available to National Grid gas heat customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York City and Long Island only. National Grid electric customers view our electric efficiency programs. STEP 1: ANALYZE YOUR HOME ENERGY USE A home energy audit is the first step in making your home more efficient. An audit will assess your energy use and provide recommended measures you can take to improve efficiency and save money. National Grid offers two audits.
But audits alone don't save energy. You need to implement the recommended improvements. See step #2 STEP 2: IMPROVE YOUR HEATING AND WATER HEATING Heating and cooling accounts for as much as half of the energy use in a home. Improve your heating system to save energy and make your home more comfortable. Take advantage of these rebates from National Grid. Scroll down to view and download rebate forms for your region. ENERGY STAR® Programmable Thermostat – $50 rebate Programmable thermostats automatically adjust your home's temperature, allowing you to save energy and money—about $150 per year. Purchase and install ENERGY STAR programmable thermostats and receive a $25 rebate each for up to two. Boiler Reset Control – $100 rebate Installing a reset control can increase your boiler’s efficiency. By differentiating between colder and milder weather, the control signals the boiler to operate at a higher level of efficiency. Your contractor can install the control and you’ll qualify for a $100 rebate when you mail in the form. High-Efficiency Heating Equipment – Save up to $1,000 in New Hampshire, Reduce your annual fuel consumption by 25-40%, decrease air pollution and save up to $1,000 in NH and RI and $800 in MA and NY City and Long Island with a high-efficiency heating rebate. You hire a contractor to install the qualifying equipment and mail it the rebate form to receive a check. High-Efficiency Water Heating – $300 rebate Water heating accounts for the third largest energy spend in homes. High-efficiency systems save energy. Indirect water heaters are attached to an ENERGY STAR rated forced hot water boiler. Tankless water heaters use a high-capacity gas burner and automatic controls to heat water on demand. When your contractor installs either one, you can complete the form to receive a $300 rebate.
STEP 3: SEAL AIR LEAKS, INSULATE AND UPGRADE WINDOWS Sealing and insulating can be the most cost effective way to improve efficiency and comfort in your home. You can save up to 20% on heating and cooling costs. Plus receive rebates to make these improvements more affordable. Weatherize your home – Save up to $750 Select a pre-approved contractor to install weatherization measures including insulation, ductwork sealing and air infiltration testing and you can receive a rebate for 20% of the cost up to $750. to Just choose an installer from our contractor list and they will complete a weatherization form to receive your rebate. Rhode Island customers call 1-888-633-7947 for the EnergyWise Program to receive up to $1,500 towards efficiency improvements. ENERGY STAR® Replacement Windows – $10 rebate per window When you purchase and install ENERGY STAR® replacement windows, you can save energy, increase the value of your home and receive a $10 per window rebate by mail. Window rebate not available in Rhode Island.
Solar Hot Water – Up to $1500 rebate Residential Customers may be eligible for a rebate of 15% of solar hot water project costs, with a maximum of $ 1,500.
